Memorial of the 21 Martyrs of Libya – Witnesses of Faith

On February 15, we remember and honor the 21 Coptic Christian martyrs who were executed in Libya in 2015 for their unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. These men, taken captive by ISIS, refused to deny their faith and courageously proclaimed the name of Christ until their last breath.

Their sacrifice stands as a powerful testimony of faith, perseverance, and love for God, reminding us that the Christian witness continues even in the face of persecution. As the Syriac Orthodox faithful, we unite in remembering these modern-day martyrs, whose example strengthens and inspires Christians around the world.

Let us reflect on their courage, their unshakable faith, and their eternal victory in Christ. May their memory live on forever, and may their intercessions be a blessing for all believers.

ܡܘܬܗܘܢ ܗܘܝܘ ܣܗܕܘܬܐ ܚܝܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ، ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܘܚܘܒܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ، ܘܡܕܟܪܢܢ ܕܣܗܕܘܬܢ ܕܡܫܝܚܝܐ ܥܕܝܢ ܩܝܡܐ ܒܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ. ܐܝܟ ܥܕܬܐ ܣܘܪܝܝܬܐ ܐܪܬܘܕܟܣܝܬܐ، ܡܬܚܒܪܝܢܢ ܒܗܢܐ ܝܘܡܐ ܕܕܟܪܢܐ ܠܡܘܕܝܢܐ ܕܝܘܡܢܢ.

ܢܬܬܟܢܫ ܠܬܡܗܪ ܡܢ ܓܘܪܓܢܗܘܢ، ܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܗܘܢ ܠܐܬܙܝܥܘ، ܘܡܢ ܙܟܘܬܗܘܢ ܕܠܘܬ ܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ. ܒܘܪܟܐ ܘܡܢܗܝܪܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܕܘܟܪܢܗܘܢ ܠܥܠܡ.
